Yes folks, it’s that time of year for……..THE BLACK WEBLOG AWARDS!
I spent last weekend at DrupalCamp Colorado 2008, where 100+ Drupal enthusiasts gathered to meet each other, share knowledge, and spread the word about Drupal. And I always come away from these events with a charge of energy from being around so much enthusiasm and passion for open source. But I also come away with a bit of wonder at why there aren't more women involved, at least in a public way. The only barriers to entry are self-imposed. No gatekeepers. No glass ceilings. I haven't figured it out yet.
Who is your family? Who is your community? And what would its keynote say?The final question is more recent, but I've asked myself the first two questions a lot since I started writing in this topic area about a year ago, mostly because I like to make sure I'm not completely screwing it up, writing about, oh, say, Muppets and marching bands when something a bit more, oh, familial, is called for.

Even though I'm more like twenty-something times 2.5, I attended the "Twenty-Something Meet Up" at the BlogHer Conference. Why did I go? I keep hearing from nonprofits that one of the reasons they want to incorporate a social networking or media strategy is to reach a younger audience. So, having this opportunity listen was very valuable. Zandria did a fabulous job of facilitating the session. There were probably about 40 or 50 women in the room - not all were twenty somethings.
The term "mommyblogger" has been deconstructed at length in the parenting blogosphere and beyond. Some think the term fits, and others don't. Either way, it seems to be a loaded word likely to generate more discussion.

Some interesting bits of news and buzz are streaking around the tech world this week.
I keep hearing that the FCC is all set to punish Comcast in some undisclosed and possibly uninforcable way for its attempts to control Internet bandwidth. Common Cause published Comcast Punished by FCC for Violating Net Neutrality. The article says,
